New Minister
First UMC and Monroe Chapel's new minister and his family will arrive on June 24, with their first Sunday being June 26. Let's all give them a warm welcome! 

 

Farewell Potluck
There will be a Farewell Potluck in honor of Rev. Ed on Sunday evening, June 19, at 6:00 pm at the church. Beverages will be provided - bring table service and a dish to share.


Annual Conference
The Iowa Annual Conference is in Ames from Thursday, June 9, through Sunday, June 12. Members attending this year are: Pastor Ed, Rebecca Gough, and Janelle Nielsen. Each year United Methodists gather to worship, set budgets, and plan the church's future goals.

 

VBS Celebration Sunday
We'll have a special Vacation Bible School service on Sunday, June 12, with the kids and volunteers leading the service. We will share with the congregation all the fun things we learned during the week.

 

Ice Cream Social
The Missions Committee is offering an ice cream social on the courthouse square in conjunction with the band concert on Thursday, June 23. They will begin serving at 6:30pm. Please come and show your support. Proceeds will benefit the Shelby County Food Pantry.

UMW Meeting
United Methodist Women have an Executive Committee meeting Wednesday, June 1, at 9:30 am in the church library.

 

Salad Buffet - Guest Night
UMW's annual Salad Buffet and Guest Night is June 1, at 6:00 pm in Fellowship Hall. Following the salad buffet, we will hear from Eunice Arant, a Chaplain who works with incarcerated women.

 

Food Pantry
June 5 is Food Pantry Sunday. Bring canned goods, non perishable staples or paper products, and place in containers near church entrances.

 

Holocaust Speaker
On Friday, June 10, at 7:00 pm Anita Dittman, Prison Camp survivor of Auschwitz, will be at Asbury UMC in Lake Mills to share her Christian story. All are invited to hear her tell her story of miracles in the rough life of a young girl who grew up in the years of Hitler's oppressive rule.

 

Inbetweeners
Inbetweeners meet Sunday, June 12, at 6:00 pm in Pioneer Park. If there's rain, we'll meet at the church.

 

Meeting Night
Committees meeting this month are:

Tuesday, June 28 - SPR at 7:00 pm

 

Quilters
We've completed the quilt that will be donated to Thanksgiving Ingathering this year, so will take a break this summer and start up again in the Fall.
