VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL 2006
ADVENTURE OF THE TREASURE SEEKERS: We had over 70 kids participate in this year's Vacation Bible School week! Each day the kids became Treasure Seekers as they "dug" into God's promises and enjoyed singing and craft making. The five promises they discovered were: God Loves You; God Knows You; God Treasures You; God Forgives You; and God Is With You.
MISSION PROJECT: Each year the children are encouraged to bring an offering each day. The five day offering, coupled with the 60 Second Offering taken at Sunday, June 11th's worship service totaled $335.00! This will be sent to Gulfport, Mississippi, to a church damaged by Hurricane Katrina to use for supplies they need.
ALL THOSE WHO HELPED: I was fortunate to have a lot of great help during and before VBS week. People helped by: bringing supplies, teaching sessions, leading groups, setting up for the week, and cleaning up the last day. You name it - it was done! There are too many to list, but I know who you are, and believe me, it was very much appreciated!
Thanks again. - Jenny
NURSERY NEWS
For quite some time, we've had various volunteers working in the nursery on Sunday mornings. We appreciate the time and caring each volunteer contributed so that families could enjoy Sunday School and/or Sunday worship.
Now church member Katie Vande Berg will be in our Nursery each Sunday, tending to our children. She will also have a helper assisting her each Sunday - most likely a Junior High student.
Our goal is to have the same person in the nursery each Sunday to establish consistency and familiarity with the children. We know Katie will do a great job with this!
Here are our Nursery Guidelines for Parents:
Children must be 5 years or younger;
Well children only, please;
Do not leave church property while your child is in our care;
Bring diaper bag or other supplies your child may need during the time they are in the nursery - you may want to label them with your child's name.
PARSONAGE SIDING
As reported earlier, the siding on the parsonage needs replaced, as the board has stained and deteriorated beyond the point of repair. The manufacturer of the siding was contacted and has made a settlement with the church, but the settlement will not be enough to cover the cost of replacement siding. The Trustees are in the process of getting bids for maintenance-free metal siding, insulation, eaves, and gutters.
Due to the rising prices of construction, the Trustees will be proceeding with this project.
We will be selling "siding boards" at $50 a piece and need to raise approximately $6000 - which means we only need 120 donations of $50!
There is a display on the bulletin board in the west entrance to the Education Wing/Sanctuary and as the donations come in, the boards will be colored in - filling up the house. Check the display each week to see the progress. Let's see how fast we can fill up the house!
MARK YOUR CALENDARS!
We are scheduling an outdoor summer worship service at Prairie Rose for Sunday, August 27 - so mark your calendars! Morning worship at 10:30am will be followed by a picnic and games. Watch the August newsletter and bulletins for more information.
THANK YOU
Thanks to everyone for the cards and other acts of kindness shown to us during Jack's illness. Thank you also for the many sympathy cards we received.

ASKING FOR PRAYER
Please pray for our church and our members and friends in time of need. Our church does not take a vacation...not even a day off! As you continue your daily routine, please remember the needs of the church are continuing day-to-day. Our church may struggle with finances, but overflows with spirit! Please try to worship regularly with us and keep our church in prayer.
