CROPWALK
This year's CropWalk is Sunday, October 2, beginning at 1:00 pm. The Harlan "Walk and Pray" begins at Immanuel Lutheran Church at 1700 19th Street. You have a choice of a 2 mile walk that includes Pioneer Park or a 3 mile "Walk and Pray" that includes stopping at various churches (including First Church) during the walk to pray. If anyone would like to walk and needs a packet, or anyone wanting to pledge that hasn't been asked, contact Rebecca Gough.
CROP responds when disaster strikes whether natural or human-made. One-fourth of funds collected goes to the Shelby County Food Pantry.
EVERY MEMBER IN CHURCH on Sunday, October 23!
The Harlan First United Methodist Church is going to have a very special worship service on Sunday, October 23. The service will include inspiring music; our former Pastor, Larry Lavelle, will be the preacher; and the service will be followed by a catered, sit-down lunch at Therkildsen Activity Center, 706 Victoria Street. We want to have every church member who can possibly attend present for this very special occasion.
This worship service and meal will be the culmination of our Consecration Sunday program. At the service you will be asked to consider your yearly giving to Christ's ministry through our church. Rather than focusing on the "need of the church to receive", we will reflect on the "need of the giver to give" as a part of his or her own spiritual development and Christian commitment. So, rather than presenting a budget and asking you to fund it, our church council will plan our next year's ministries according to the gifts you express through your giving. We will have ministries that reflect the commitment and response that you express through your giving. Let's show a spirit of renewed excitement for our church, our faith, and our fellowship together! Please plan to attend this wonderful service and celebration on the 23rd! - Pastor Dave
ALL SAINTS SUNDAY
We shall rejoice in All Saint's in our November 6 worship service at First Church. The service will include the Chancel Choir, a special time of remembrance for those from our congregation who died during this past year, and the dedication of memorial and estate gifts.
